WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT IN COUNSELLING

Counselling is a collaborative effort between the counsellor and the client to help the client address current life concerns, problems, or to aid in the client’s efforts toward personal growth. We work to provide a comfortable, welcoming, compassionate, and confidential space in order to aid in this collaboration. We invite you to explore the experiences within your life that have led you to us. Together, we will explore developing effective coping strategies, experiencing a safer space to develop a supportive relationship and explore individual experiences, along with creating both counselling and individual goals before stepping outside the counselling relationship once again.

Beginning on a bi-weekly meeting basis, you will meet with a counsellor for up to 10 sessions over the potential course of 20 weeks. This can provide the client with time to experience and develop a supportive relationship along with learning and working toward
new skills, strategies, interventions, and coping techniques that can be applied into day to day experiences.

It is important to note that your counsellor cannot provide psychological assessments, provide you with diagnoses, or give advice. Your counsellor is a new branch of support that can assist in exploring challenging experiences and conversations that can lead to new perspectives along with potential new coping skills and supports.
